Motive for Our Beginning
I always enjoyed getting away and going to a commercial gym everyday. You can put your headphones in and just tune out. They aren't that expensive and you have access to great equipment. It wasn't till had a newborn that I couldn't find time to get away everyday for a few hours. I mean a 30 min workout was not 30 min. 15 min to the gym, 15 min back. Going to the locker room and getting ready before and after 15 min. Forgetting to use the restroom and running back to the locker room across the home depot size gym 15 min. And once you get back your equipment has been taken!
Then there is waiting for the equipment you need, especially during busy hours. Also people tend to not put their weights away and so you end up going on a scavenger hunt. And then if you ever do super sets, compound sets, or circuits it is extremely difficult for your equipment not to be taken by someone during the minute you switch between exercises. Not only does all this interrupt your workout and add time to your workout but it isn't the most pleasant stress relieving time you were hoping for when going to the gym in the first place. At least that was my experience. However all that was overlooked because I never thought of having my own gym.
When my wife was pregnant I knew she wouldn't have time to go to a gym so I got her some dumbbells, a bench, and a treadmill, plus we had some resistance tubes. But since I was having a hard time getting out everyday I started to use this equipment more and more. This is when I noticed all those downsides of a commercial gym were solved. So I ended up canceling my membership to the commercial gym and began to get more equipment.
But I ran into some problems with owning your own gym. The first problem with having a gym is having free space for it. We had a two bedroom townhome (more like apt) with no garage. So I was using the baby room for my gym. I figured why does the baby need such a big room when they are sleeping in our room... Unfortunately you can't put much equipment in a baby's room. Every piece of equipment basically is just using the room for storage until it is utilized for maybe just one exercise. With just a few pieces of equipment you begin to run out of space to actually workout...
Secondly, most equipment falls into two categories. They are either designed for commercial gyms and are big and bulky or home gyms being smaller and lacking quality. Although there are some exceptions we found it difficult to find what we were looking for.
This is reason we began DROP BOX GYM.
We specialize in sourcing professional grade gym equipment while saving space. We offer quality equipment to either be able to be compacted or stored away easily taking up minimal space. With good quality equipment it can last a lifetime and hold it's value if you decide to pass it on to a new owner.
